What it is:
GAYE allows you to donate a portion of your salary to a charity of your choice on a regular basis, typically monthly, directly from your paycheck.

How it works:
You simply inform your employer or pension provider that you wish to donate a certain amount to a specific charity, and they will deduct that amount from your salary before tax is taken out.

Tax benefits:
Because the donation is taken from your gross pay (before tax), you receive tax relief on your donation, meaning you effectively pay less for your donation.
How to set it up:

Check if your employer or pension provider offers a GAYE scheme.

If they do, you can typically complete a form or use an online portal to set up your donations.

If your employer doesn’t have a scheme, you can contact a payroll giving agency like the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) to help set one up.

Who can use it:
Anyone who pays UK tax through Pay As You Earn (PAYE) can donate through GAYE.

How to stop:
Simply inform your HR or payroll department that you want to stop making donations through your wages.
